I was always amazed that Dave could talk to Kirksville on 2meter simplex even though his yagi was pointed downward at a 45 degree angle towards Kirksville. I even talked with him in my car that way! He came to most of the NEMOARC meetings in Kirksville until his health declined. Kathy and I made several visits to Memphis Mo to visit Dave . We discussed everything from FM digital voice modes to AM voice mode (ancient modulation). Dave was especially proud of his AM projects that involved refurbishing several old AM transmitters;. He even had a class E AM solid state transmitter that put out around 800 watts as I recall.

On a later trip to Dave’s I had the great privilege of meeting Daven his son KF0PYO.   The three of us ( Dave Dave and Dave) had a great talk and I could easily see that Dave was very close to and proud of his son.

Dave had a vast general  knowledge of almost anything involving Ham Radio. Dave was also involved with setting up the repeater on the Lancaster water tower and was a member of a the now defunct SCORA (Schuyler County Repeater Association). He endured, with the rest of us, a great amount of frustration until we found out that there Was a leaking signal from the cable TV system on the Lancaster repeater input frequency that could not be corrected. He was always willing to help with Ham Radio projects with the club where he could help by donating equipment or parting with it for a minimal cost.

He will be greatly missed as a friend and for his willingness to share from his vast Radio knowledge. He could also be counted on to respond on the repeater when nets rolled around or when a person just wanted to chat.

We will miss you Dave!
